Dr. David Putney is a visionary educator who is equity focused to ensure that all children are celebrated and provided the opportunity to thrive in school. He believes in the democratic foundation of public education and is driven to develop the potential of each unique individual. Dr. Putney began his teaching career teaching Environmental Education at Sonoma State University that included elementary through adult students. This inspiring experience led him to teaching in elementary school, middle school, and a Special Educational residential NPS. Working direct service with students with significant disabilities who were juvenile justice involved and living in a residential placement program was pivotal in his career. As a member of a multidisciplinary cross agency team that provided comprehensive wrap-around services, Dr. Putney gained invaluable experience and strengthened his commitment to social justice and equity. As the Administrators of Special Projects Dr. Putney has played a key role in responding to COVID-19 in Santa Clara County Schools by collaborating, communicating, and facilitating with the California Department of Public Health to ensure the highest level of support possible during this pandemic.
Dr. Putney has earned a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Education and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Sonoma State University, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Dominican University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University Of California.
